Prague's event geography is unusually top-heavy: the historic centre pulls everything toward it like a gravitational force. Prague 1 (Old Town, Josefov & Malá Strana) is where the map lights up most densely — the Old Town Square hosts major seasonal events, Charles Bridge is flanked by street musicians, and the cellars and converted palaces of the centre house jazz clubs (Reduta), classical concerts in baroque churches, and genuinely excellent cultural programming. The real scene for locals is across the river: Holešovice (Prague 7) has transformed from a post-industrial district into Prague's most exciting cultural cluster, home to the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, the Cross Club (arguably the coolest bar in Central Europe), and an ecosystem of galleries and music venues in refurbished warehouses. East of the historic core, Žižkov & Vinohrady offer the city's densest bar-per-capita ratio and a lively pub-and-gig scene: the Žižkov Television Tower observation deck hosts the occasional event, but it's the warren of low-ceilinged neighbourhood bars hosting live music and quiz nights that make this the city's most authentic going-out neighbourhood. Across the river, Smíchov is quietly rising as a venue cluster, anchored by the Anděl cultural area and some of the city's most-visited live music pubs.
